Keshet and Sinai Synagogue Host Weekend of LGBTQ+ Jewish Learning and Community

Steve Lotter

Keshet is a grassroots organization that works to achieve equality and inclusion for LGBTQ Jews in Jewish life and is excited to join Sinai Synagogue and the South Bend Jewish community for a weekend of Jewish learning on LGBTQ belonging, Friday, January 24 through Sunday, January 26. Throughout Shabbat, grow in understanding of core terms and concepts related to LGBTQ identities, make connections between LGBTQ equality and Jewish values, and identify frameworks and language for affirming and supporting LGBTQ loved ones. Additionally, Keshet is offering specific times for LGBTQ Jewish and ally teens to be in community together to experience a taste of a Keshet LGBTQ Jewish youth Shabbaton.

The weekend will feature a variety of programs designed for different age groups and interests. Issac Young, a Midwestern trans man and passionate advocate for LGBTQ youth rights, will be a key speaker. With a background in youth advocacy and experience with the Jewish Council on Urban Affairs, Issac brings valuable insights to his role as Keshet’s Midwest Youth Engagement Manager. He holds a Bachelor’s of Art from Columbia College Chicago, with double minors in Women, Gender and Sex Studies & Animation. Issac resides in Chicago with his partner and enjoys gaming with friends in his free time.

Join us January 24-26, whether you are LGBTQ and Jewish, a loved one of an LGBTQ Jewish person, or simply interested in learning more. Don’t miss this opportunity to grow in understanding and community. For more information about this program, please email sinaischool1102@gmail.com.
